Furthering its mission of ‘Helping Kids be Kids,’ Pioneer’s Charitable Foundation has now invested more than $1.2M in nearly 400 local agencies that enhance the health and welfare of children
Albany, New York – Pioneer, a leading financial institution in New York’s Capital Region, today marked the national celebration of Giving Tuesday by making $2,500 donations to each of six local nonprofit organizations that deliver programs and services to assist children in need. Aligned with its mission of “Helping Kids be Kids,” the Pioneer Charitable Foundation has now provided more than $1.2 million in financial support to nearly 400 Capital Region nonprofits since 2018, reinforcing their critical efforts to improve the health and welfare of children.
The donations stemmed from a new employee-centered program, Pioneers with Purpose, in which employees advocate on behalf of a nonprofit with which they are actively involved. In this way, employees have the opportunity to align their passions in the local community with that of the Pioneer Charitable Foundation.
“Mindful of the challenges faced by those in our own community, we are proud to support these worthy organizations making a difference in the lives of our most precious resource: our children,” said Pioneer President and CEO Tom Amell. “We take seriously our responsibility to lift up Capital Region children and families in need, and led by our caring and committed employees, strive to embody the spirit of Giving Tuesday throughout the year.”
A committee comprised of Pioneer employees selected the grant recipients, each of which addresses the essential needs of children, from offering housing, nutrition and health care assistance to providing educational, social and recreational programs. Since 2018, Pioneer employees have worked directly with nonprofit agencies to guide them through funding opportunities, while also contributing well over 10,000 hours in local volunteer service.
“We are awed by the selfless efforts of our local nonprofit agencies, and fortunate to be able to support the vital programs and services they provide,” said Susan Hollister, Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer and Co-Chair of the Pioneer Charitable Foundation. “There is nothing more fulfilling than ‘Helping Kids be Kids,’ and I’m proud of the passion and dedication shown by our employees in advancing this noble cause.”
Giving Tuesday was created in 2012 with a straightforward goal: setting aside a day to encourage people to do good.
Giving Tuesday is now an independent nonprofit and a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.
