Funds to be distributed to local charitable organizations that are providing services to those in critical need

Albany, New York – The Pioneer Bank Foundation announced today a commitment to donating a minimum of $100,000 to charitable organizations within the greater Capital Region that are providing critical services to those who have been impacted by COVID-19.

Understanding the extraordinary challenges being faced by these organizations, monetary donations will be distributed in the coming days and weeks to a number of community healthcare organizations, food pantries, emergency housing providers, and other services that support the health and well-being of local children and families.

"Pioneer has been part of this community for more than 130 years, and we have always been committed to providing for the needs of our neighbors," said Thomas Amell, President/CEO of Pioneer, which administers the Pioneer Bank Foundation. "We are fortunate to be in a position to give back to our communities, especially during this widespread health crisis, and we hope that this encourages others who are able to do the same."

These funds will serve as a critical lifeline for organizations who have been overwhelmed by a rapid increase in requests for services, many of which are essential to caring for those most vulnerable in society.

"As an essential business, Pioneer employees have been providing for customers' needs without interruption throughout the spread of the coronavirus, and it immediately became apparent that we needed to do something more to help our community," said Susan Hollister, Chief Human Resources Officer and Pioneer Bank Foundation Co-Chair. "It is our hope that these donations will provide even a small level of relief and comfort to our neighbors who are most in need."

For those interested in contributing to the Pioneer Bank Foundation's COVID-19 Relief Efforts, donations may be made online through a secure donation link at www.pioneerny.com/community. As always, 100% of contributions are distributed to local non-profits, as all administrative costs are covered by Pioneer.
